WRITERS

Robert Schwartz

Robert has written for film, television, print, and online. He is also the Founder/President of yourbestcollegeessay.com, a college and graduate school admissions consulting company.

Anita Daswani

Anita Daswani is a third time letter submitter—likely to submit more in the future, as YFR is a platform where she feels safe to share and let go. Though primarily an actor, she has been recognized as a writer/filmmaker for her 2022 short, The Missed, for which she was awarded Best Script. Her work has also been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, but she won’t advertise which edition since she’s grown as a writer since then ;)

Sarah Mozeson*

Sarah is a performer, writer, and social media team member for YFR. She is also an accomplished telepath, particularly accomplished at reading the minds of corgis, or as she may refer to them, "beautiful badonkadonk-ed bread loaves."

Aaron Frank*

Aaron writes because talking to himself in public got weird looks. When he’s not crafting sentences with questionable punctuation choices, he’s probably staring at a blank Google Doc pretending it’s brainstorming. He once won a staring contest with a thesaurus.

Alexander Patterson*

Alex is a writer, which means he's perpetually caffeinated and prone to muttering plot points to himself. He also claims a very distant, entirely fictional relation to James Patterson, mostly for free drinks at literary events. Alex specializes in crafting words that actually make sense, a skill honed through years of convincing people his cat is definitely planning something.

Bernadette Pleasant*

Bernadette is an acclaimed greeting card writer, for which she has received many international awards. Some of her top-selling cards include, Happy BirthdayCongratulations on Your Promotion, and Get Well Sun, which is a lyrical tribute to her favorite K-Pop star, Sunoo from the group ENHYPEN.

Miriam Wasmund

wouldn't call herself a writer, but she loves to write. If she were to call herself a writer then she would like to thank her 5th and 7th Grade English teachers, Mrs. Lev and Mrs. Ruhana for being badass women who taught her to have a backbone in words....and books, she would also like to thank books.

Phil Bascom

is a poet, essayist, and software engineer -- when capitalism forces him to be, but also sometimes for fun. When he's not venting his frustration to strangers, he works to make practical change at properelevation.org

Marc Lyons

is a Playwright, Actor and Director. He is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with YFR. Thank you to the cast and Miriam for bringing something so personal to life!

Arielle Yoder*

Arielle writes letters, emails, and occasional grocery lists with dramatic flair. She thrives on plot twists, Bridgerton fanfiction, and snacks. When not writing, she can be found googling “synonyms for ‘said’” and taking long walks along the clean side of the Hudson River.

Katie Naka*

Katie writes because it’s the only socially acceptable way to talk to imaginary people all day. She’s fueled by tea, memes, and a firm yet unpopular belief that one day George R.R. Martin will actually surprise us all and actually finish the A Song of Ice & Fire series.

*Fictionalized Bio

Though all of our writers were contacted by email, smoke signal, and/or carrier pigeon to submit a brief bio, not all received the call. Therefore, in lieu of their actual bio, we have taken the liberty to write one for them—because everyone's work deserves to be celebrated, even if we aren't the ones to do it ourselves ;)
